ESCOM sets up National Call Centre
Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi ( ESCOM) has devised plans to set up National Call Centre in a bid to improve service delivery to its customers as well as align itself to international standards, Nyasa Times has learnt.

The plan comes amid complaints from its customers over poor service delivery evidenced by the forgoing power outages which has forced some to hold street protests in the Capital Lilongwe.
The plan has forced ESCOM to make changes to some staff members.
The company’s public relation manager Kitty Chingota has now moved from the department and is to head the National Call Center. While George Mituka is now acting head of the public relations department.
Escom said recently that Malawians should brace for frequent power blackouts due to, among other factors, inadequate hydro electricity generation arising from low water levels on Lake Malawi and reduced flows on Shire River.
“Reports so far show that the country will continue to experience a shortfall in electricity supply unless the country receives normal to above normal rainfall for a period of about five years consecutively, or effective short to medium term interventions are implemented,” said Escom boss, Evelyn Mwapasa in the letter, dated July 31 2017.

Silly! When do we call the call center?? 3am when the lights come on and our phones are charged????? What are we going to tell you that you don’t already know……..komanso ndiye tatopa!!!!
Ever since during kamuzu regime we have never had this type of stupidness what escom is doing . Take out old stuff and put new and fresh minded people who can resolve this problem .
This is because you don’t have competitors, you can do anything you want, mwatizunzadi, your call centre will not in anyway be helpful to us, NONSENSE !!!!!!! visionless……………..
what ESCOM needs to set up is modern equipment for power generation and increase its capacity. Not this gibberish. Clueless
CALL CENTRE TIZIYIMBA MAGETSI AKAYAKA? COZ ELECTRICITY IS ALWAYS OFF, THESE CALL CENTRES ARE FOR WHAT? UDZETE UJA NDIYE UMENEWU, AND U THINK THIS IS AN INNOVATIVE IDEA..MXIIIIIII
good development, mudye money zamasiyezi amwene, kuganizza mwanzeru.
What I do not get is that water has not stopped flowing out of lake Malawi and as I am writing, there is alot of water still going down into Zambezi and the Indian Ocean. 1. What does the collection point (Dam) at Nkula Falls do? Does it not collect enough water to be released to the turbines? 2. Why doesn’t EGENCO install the other station through wind mills as other countries do?
Call Centre yitithandiza chiani a ESCOM? Just fire those personnel if they are of no use to the public
This is nonsense!
whats the logic for setting up call centres……..
