Escom’s Masanjala insists it is 'not over yet' in relegation fight: Malawi Super League

Veteran coach ‘Sir’ Alex Masanjala insists it is “not over yet” for Escom United to survive relegation battle from TNM Super League despite their miserable season continuing on Sunday.

Electrician failed to collect maximum points in the capital Lilongwe  despite starting with a win on Saturday beating fellow relagation strugglers Kamuzu Barracks 2-1.

But EPAC FC ran the Electricians ragged with a deserved 2-1 win on Sunday. With the win, EPAC climbed out of the relegation zone with 27 points.

The Masanjala side jumped from 14th to 13th on the 15-member log table.

Escom conceded the first goal in the opening 5 minutes with Ishmael Thindwa doing the damage.

The defeat means Escom newly hired coach Masanjala needs to deliver survival miracle.

Masanjala, who was sacked by Civo United a couple of months ago, remains upbeat the club will stay up.

“It’s not over yet,  I think we will stay up,” said the former Sucoma, Admarc Tigers, MDC United, Civo and Silver Strikers trainer,

He maintained that “surviving relegation is achievable.”

Escom with 22 points have seven games to go.

Meanwhile,  Carlsberg Cup current holders Blue Eagles F.C had a poor showing when they only manage to accumulate only a single point out of a possible 6 points when they invaded the northern region over the weekend.

The team on Saturday was forced to a 1-1 draw against struggling and bottom placed Kabwafu F.C.

The Eagles suffered another huge blow 24 hours by narrowly losing by 1-0 to Moyale Barracks.
