Europe match for Kamwendo, in Turkey for trials

An opportunity to play in Europe is now open for revitalized Malawi midfielder Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo who is in Turkey for trials may soon complete a move from Mighty Wanderers.

Kamwendo left the country on Wednesday for Ankara where he is going to be assessed at a national league side.

Kamwendo: Turkey trials

The natural left-footer who until last year was plying his trade at South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Orlando Pirates where his contract wasn’t renewed said he was looking forward to a new window of opportunity.

“It flatters me that a European club is interested to assess me. I will deliver if given an opportunity to be signed,” he said before departure.

His club, Wanderers FC said they have given Kamwendo their blessings to go for the trials.

Club general secretary George Chamangwana did not disclose the name of the club but said they received a letter requesting the club to release Kamwendo for trials.

He however could not say length of the period of the assessment.
