Ex-Bullets coach Davie Mpesi dies after road crash
Dave Mpesi, the former Big Bullets and Escom United coach died on Wednesday, 30 January 2013 at Mzuzu Central Hospital after being involved in a car accident.
The death has been confirmed by former Embangweni United coach Etson Kadenge Mwafulirwa.
Mwafulirwa, speaking to Nyasa Times from Mzuzu Central Hospital mortuary , said Mpesi was travelling to Chitipa in a company of three people in a Rand Rover car. They were on a tour of duty for Malawi Revenue Authority.
However, upon reaching at South Rukuru Bridge in Rumphi district, the driver of the car failed to negotiate a bend before it plunged into the river.
“I can confirm about the death of Mr Dave Mpesi,” said Mwafulirwa.
Mwafulirwa said, the former Chinkhwawa United tactician was left with some bruised in the head and he also reported broke his lungs and leg.
Meanwhile, the other three people, who survived the accident, are being treated at Mzuzu Hospital.
