FA Malawi grateful to Bushiri: ‘We hope for miracle win in Guinea’

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has commended  Prophet Shepherd Bushiri a K44 million donation which is meant to meet the K45 million budget shortfall for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations’ qualifiers against Guinea’s Syli Nationale.

“We are very grateful and hope for miracle win in Guinea,” said FAM general secretary Suzgo Nyirenda when the association received the money from Bushiri in Blantyre.

But the prophet downplayed the miracle win, saying a the primary reason is to assist towards the development of the game.

“There is nothing like a miracle win for the Flames. I love the Flames , I love football.”

Both FAM secretary general  and the prophet said  the donation was in response to a request by Flames coach Ernest Mtawali.

He said although the request was made at short notice, “the need of coming here was huge as the president of the country encourages patriotism and as a loyal citizen who loves the country and the Flames, I decided to come and support.”

But FAM  defied gvernment, which ordered  the association  through the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS), not to accept a K44 million donation

“They told us that we need to seek approval from government because both FAM and the national team are public entities. But we could not turn down such a ‘miraculous rescue’ package because we were stranded and government made it clear that there was no money,” said Nyirenda

Bushiri  who flew on his private jet from his base in South Africa arraive at Chiwembe Technical Centre in the company of his wife and Prophetic TV channel staff  .

He flew back to Johannesburg after making the donation.

Here it goes: FAM asked for monetary support from DPP Government and it responded by saying it had no money, hence the first element of Conflict. Someone in the name of Bushiri came in with the offer of monetary support to FAM but DPP orders FAM not to receive the money unless they channelled through DPP Government, hence… Read more »
