FA Malawi tells member associations to preps return to football

The Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has told its member associations to start preparing for restart of their respective leagues.

Zakazaka:  Start planning ahead

The Malawi FA has said it cannot direct the member associations on what to do but they should come up with their own road map which can be scrutinised by the country’s football governing body.

FAM met the National Youth Football Association (NYFA), the Central Region Football Association (CRFA), Northern Region Football Association (NRFA), and Women’s National Football Association (WNFA) to map the way forward regarding the restart of their respective leagues.

Competitions and Communications Director at FAM, Gomezgani Zakazaka, said there was need for the member associations to start planning ahead of commencement of their leagues.

“These other leagues are different. We cannot say we will do the same thing for women’s football, youth football and regional leagues. We have given them updates on the Covid-19 pandemic and we expect them to come up with their own plans so that we can consolidate on them and  come up with one document which we will submit to the task force,” said Zakazaka.

Current Chairperson for the Southern Region Football Association (SRFA), Raphael Humba, said it was pleasing to see some green light regarding commencement of their leagues.

“We are happy for the meeting we had with FAM. Almost all the lower leagues are ready. We will do the needful so that our leagues can start,” said Humba.
