FA Malawi veep Mwenda removed as Chair for Cosafa

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Vice President, James Mwenda has been removed as the Chairperson of the main organizing committee of the upcoming Under 17 Cosafa Cup to be held in Blantyre in September, 2019.

Mwenda: Removed
This has come about at the hot heels of the forthcoming elective FAM Annual Meeting slated for December, 2019.
Mwenda Tuesday evening confirmed in Lilongwe that he has been removed but has not disclosed the reasons for his removal.
Mwenda’s announcement to contest as FAM President some three weeks ago might has contributed to this decision by FAM executive.
Surprisingly, Northern Region Football Association (NFRA) endorsed Mwenda for his candidature and Central Region Football Region (CRFA) consolidated it later.
However, football fraternity were shocked to learn that both associations had distance themselves to the endorsements.
They said it was done without consultations as it only reflected individual   views.
FAM President Walter Nyamilandu has not indicated his position as to whether he is ready to go for fourth term of office.
Mwenda and Karonga United Chairperson, Chipanga have come up to indicate their wishes.
Former Executive member of FAM, Julius Mithi has indicated Mwenda had made a right decision to view the FAM presidency.
He feared that there was a long way to December polls and noted that Mwenda might be sidelined by FAM or be victim of circumstances.
No official from FAM was able to pick their phones when contacted for their comment.
Under ground movement is gathering momentum to have Nyamilandu on the helm with printed t-shirts  with the support of his candidature despite not coming out to the public.

One commentator has misunderstood me for walter supporter. What am saying is that in principle if you are against your boss in public then you should bow out of the boardroom because it means that you have failed to sort out your differencrs behind curtains. In this case mwenda should resign because both of these have contracts that are running to december 2019. Otherwise, am not a walter supporter and wish walter should go and have his tent perched in fifa boardroom in Zurich. He has been around for.sometime and I remember waltet competing for this post with mmangisa in… Read more »

Only people who dont have brains think that challenging someone is a mistake. When it comes to elections people must stand to compete. People think Chilima made a mistake? What mistake did Chilima make? He has all the benefits of a Vice President as we speak. He is young, educated time is on his side unlike other politicians. Bingu tried & got less than a thousand votes but he ended up the President of the country so why people think that all is dark for Chilima? The same with Mwenda he must stand if he wants to to try his… Read more »

Hey mwenda uziona za chilima. You do not stab your boss in the back. Thats being chibwana. If you go against your boss resign first. You cant say your boss is not discharging his duties right and you remain part of the system, no. The best is resign first and make noise from outside the fence. Otherwise ulendo uwu. You are going to head a football association of your village.
