FaceApp aging app could be breaching over your privacy

The popular photo ageing app called FaceApp, currently trending in Malawi again, is coming under fire may be exposing its users to  its Russian developers.

This app shows you what you’ll look like as you age

The ‘FaceApp’ takes your picture and re-imagines you with an extra 50 years on the clock. But while the makeovers are funny and eerily correct, using the FaceApp means you might be giving away more than you thought.

Experts are warning of security concerns with FaceApp, made in 2017,  which puts a filter over your face, as it has permanent access to your photos.

Concerns focus around a questionable clause in the app, which can access, store and use images from your camera roll, without your permission.

Considering a lot of sensitive photos are taken on phones today, like identification documents and banking information, it would only take one wrong picture for things to take an unpleasant turn

FaceApp is currently one of the most downloaded apps for both iOS and Android, as #faceappchallenge posts have taken over social media.

WHAT IS FACEAPP?

FaceApp is a photo-morphing app that uses what it calls artificial intelligence and neural face transformations to make alterations to faces.

The app can use photos from your library or you can snap a photo within the app.

The free service uses artificial intelligence to edit a picture in your phone gallery and transforms the image into someone double or triple your age.

It can also change your hair colour, allow you to see what you look like with a beard and even look younger.
