FAM releases Malawi women’s football squad for camp

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has released a list of women’s football players to start preparations for a friendly international against Tanzania on October 24.

This will be the first time in three years for Malawi women’s football team to get into action following.

The abrupt break from international action was necessitated by the team’s poor performance in the Africa Women’s Football Championship qualifiers against Zambia.

The decision to have a friendly match against Tanzania is in a bid to get the team into action.

The list of players has a lot of new faces with Linda Kasenda being the only veteran player in the team

The following is the full list of players called into camp:

Goalkeepers; Judith Mazamo, Martha Banda, Alice Msiska

Defenders; Emily Jossam, Patricia Nyirenda, Aniya Alizi,Silvia January, Ruth Nyirongo, Wezzie MvuLa, Chimwemwe Madise, Eliza Chiphang’ombe.

Midfielders; Naomi Mwale, Sungeni Msiska, Ruth Tambala, Chimwemwe Sapangwa,, Pilirani Malola, Madima Nguluwe, Elube Botomani, Funny Mwale,Bridget Mkuzilire

Strikers; Vanesa Chikupira, Enelesio Mhango, Mary Chavinda, .Temwa Chabinga, Linda Kasenda

That’s the problem in Malawi. The fact that Maggie was a good player doesn’t qualify her to be a good coach. I’m sure her inclusion in the team is just an anointing from some football official on gender grounds. I don’t think Maggie has the capacity to come up with a proper training program.

It means Tanzania is the only country 2 boasting our teams? Well, let it be. But its confusing when our teams are not performing well. We need to learn how African women footbal teams like Nigeria, Banyabanya play. What matters is dedication on what u guys are payed for. Avoiding humiliating our country wil also put u on market. Gudu luck ladies.
