Fatima auditions for MBCtv reality show
She is back into the real world. One of the country’s evicted representatives from the ongoing Big Brother Africa Chase, Fatima Nkata, is now embracing realms of real life as she relishes the opportunity to return to the spotlight and continue to enjoy a ride on the waves of fame.
The former TV presenter and a socialite on Friday seized the opportunity to grace our TV screens once more as she auditioned for ‘Hot Spot’ talk-show produced by Ubuntu Lab and MBCtv.
Ever smiling Fatima was one of the contenders for reality show, yet to hit the screens, as she competed against several other wannabe TV presenters.
Among other notable faces at the auditions at Mibawa Cafe on Friday afternoon, was one of the country’s dancehall artists, Blakjak of Wadya Iwe fame.
If successful, the new reality talk show will be a career stepping stone for Fatima, who returned home a fortnight ago without pomp.
Hot Spot is a live reality talk show that will feature prominent personalities in the society to be hosted by two presenters.
It is produced by MBCtv’s Sweeney Chimkango in collaboration with Ubuntu Lab, an arts oriented agency.
In an interview with Nyasa Times, Ubuntu Lab official, Tonny Khanyepa, said the show, to be launched soon, will feature different topics from HIV and Aids, good governance, sports and arts.
“Currently, we are doing final round of auditions to pick the final two presenters. Those who will impress a panel of judges, are the ones to be considered,” said Khanyepa.
He said the audience will be allowed to participate in the show and ask questions to the featured hosts.
“This is the type of a show to change the landscape for the local TV industry with hot and current issues to be dissected in broader terms. We want to make it unique and interesting, and the world should expect great things”.
During her stay in the Big Brother House Fatima had grown very close to Ghana’s Elikem. Their intimate friendship even led to the Ghanaian housemate breaking up with his lover, Pokello.
Fatima, who hails from Lilongwe, enjoys seafood and her favorite book is Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.
She studied and later abandoned Forensic Science at New College of Nottingham in the UK.
Fatima is the third born in a family of six.
She describes herself as “unique, daring, nurturing, fun and loud” and says she makes friends very easily.
