Fatima jets back in Malawi: Clarify issues in Big Brother Africa

Evicted Malawi’s representative to the on-going Big Brother ‘The Chase’ Fatima Nkata came back on Wednesday and clarified on a number of issues in the house, mostly accusations which were leveled against her.

The 30 year old former TV personality arrived back home through Chileka International Airport in Blantyre on South African Airways which landed at exactly 12 noon.

Welcomed by MultiChoice Malawi officials, family members who included her father, Fatima was driven straight to Mount Soche Hotel where she addressed a news conference.

In her remarks, Fatima started with thanking Malawians for their support in the house before journalists quizzed her on a number of burning issues.

On her closeness with Ghananian Elikem, who many thought they were in love, Fatima described Elikem as “a friend” but conceded they were emotionally connected because of their closeness.

Fatima said it was unfortunate that when she was close to Elikem, her lover Pokelo was on her neck and that she hated Pokelo’s approach on her friendship with Elikem.

“Pokello called me a B****   in Shona thinking l was after her man. I even told Hackem (Her country mate) that I understand your language and tell your sister the same (B****),”said Fatima.

She said to prove her point that they were just friends with Elikem, she told the Ghananian,” I told him l don’t do drama and has to come to a stop.”

On Natasha

She also clarified on popular opinion that she hated her compatriot Natasha Tonthola, saying she does not hate her colleague and urged Malawians to keep voting for Natasha so that she escapes evictions on Sunday.

The moment of tension was when she answered a question on why she gave Natasha a cold shoulder when she was leaving the Big Brother House.

“People should understand because that time l was trying to rush after Big Brother gave me a few seconds before leaving the house and Natasha was pulling me that’s why l said no drama no drama and l was portraying a message to her that, come on Natasha no drama, no drama, carry the Malawi flag high because now your alone, “she said.

Fatima said she does not hate Natasha and that she backs her all the way.

“The first thing I am going to do when Natasha is back is to go to her restaurant and cook for a day to show people that we had a real connection,” she said.

Who will win

Quizzed on who she thinks has the chances to win the $300,000 grand prize, Fatima said if it is not Natasha then the Ethiopian Bimpi or Sierra Leone Bassey because they are clever, they observe things and intelligent.

“Natasha is playing the game and her strategy is working for her only that some people cannot see that. If it is not Natasha bringing money home then I favour Bimpi and Bassey,” she said.

Fatima insisted Natasha has her support all the way to day 91 of the reality show.

Way forward

Fatima, a single mum, said her main focus now that she has left BBA will be to venture into acting.

“It’s time to grow now by facing new challenges. I feel l have done my part in the media industry. I want to do Film industry that’s my next destination and I am eying West Africa,” said Fatima, former MBCTV Presenter.

Fatima said she is “very hopeful of opportunities coming around” because of her participation in Big Brother The Chase.
