FDH Bank employee died from gunshot wound, postmortem finds

An FDH Bank employee found dead inside her own car has been confirmed to have died from a devastating gunshot wound to the neck, according to a harrowing postmortem report that has plunged colleagues and family into grief and left police scrambling to track down her killers.

Tathokoza Salimu was discovered lifeless in her vehicle on Monday this week at Chinkhota village near Tatolonga Bridge, along the Dzaleka–Dowa Boma road, in a scene that immediately sparked a full-scale police investigation.

Her body was initially taken to Dowa District Hospital mortuary before being transferred to Mnthunzi Funeral Parlour in Lilongwe, where pathologists carried out a detailed postmortem examination.

The chilling findings confirmed a penetrating neck injury with perforation of the C2-C3 spine — injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

Dowa Police Station publicist Alice Sitima confirmed the grim development, revealing that officers had already launched an urgent manhunt in a bid to track down and arrest those responsible for the young banker’s death.

Salimu hailed from Muliya village in the area of Traditional Authority Mkanda in Mulanje district, where news of her violent death is expected to send shockwaves through her home community.

Police say investigations remain ongoing as they work to establish the exact circumstances surrounding her murder.
