FIFA seminar on Technical Directors held in Malawi

First of its kind Fifa  seminar for Technical Directors  of  15 African football associations from East and Central Africa  opened in Blantyre on  Monday, with the TD’s expected  to discuss new managerial skills and share knowledge.

A five day seminar, which is taking place at Chiwembe Technical Centre, was officially opened by the minister of youth and sports ,Grace Chiumia.

Also attended the opening ceremony was Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu, the Executive Secretary for Malawi National Council of Sports George Jana,

In his remarks, Fam President Walter Nyamilandu urged participants to exhibit professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

He also lauded FIFA for the confidence reposed in  Malawi to host the seminar.

“We feel greatly honoured to host this seminar which is first of its kind in this country. This shows trust and confidence of Fifa on Fam to host this seminar.  This seminar will provide a platform for TD’s including ours who is also attending this seminar to interact with other participants to undertake advance strategies towards the development of football on the continent,” said Nyamilandu.

Nyamilandu also noted that such meetings benefited the game as it was intended to help plan towards the development of football on the continent while keeping abreast with changes in the game.

He praised the world football governing body for its commitment to building the competence of African national associations.

Representing FIFA Jurg Nepfer explained that, as TD’s were pillars in the management of football, it was vital that they were fully equipped with the indispensable know-how needed for the development of the game.

“As we undergo such training and knowledge building seminars, we must ensure that our various associations improve and stay at par with others,” he added.

He said it was also  important for the soccer governing body to interact with various football associations to aid in the development agenda of the game.

Nepfer  said the seminar is committed to sharing ideas geared at improving the administrative and technical structure of the sport in Africa.

“It will also seek to keep participants abreast with FIFA’s development programs and grand plans for football,” he said.

In her speech, Chiumia  said TD’s play a critical role in the development of the game of football, such that holding such a seminar and refresher courses provides them with an excellent opportunity to share experiences and best practices.

“Technical Directors need to have high level knowledge and skills in all aspects for the development of the game. Furthermore they need to be updated on any developments taking place in the game of football,” she said.

She also hailed FIFA and the organizers for deciding to bring the seminar to Malawi, emphasizing it show their trust and confidence in Malawi and FAM.

“We do not take this for granted and I thank FIFA for deciding to hold this seminar in Malawi and FAM for accepting to host the seminar,” said Chiumia.

The minister also toured the Chiwembe Technical Centre to appreciate what FAM is doing.

She was impressed with the hostels for the Flames, the gym, offices and the stadium.

NKHASAKO, AT LEAST OUR TECH DIRECTOR WILL NOW BE TALKING SENSIBLE THINGS NOT’ WE’RE CURRENTLY WORKING ON PASSES BCOZ THATS WHERE OUR BOYS ARE FACING PROBLEMS’!!! ZOONA ZIMENEZI IN THIS AGE AKAPUTA?? AFTER THIS THE MINISTER SHOULD COURT THE NETBAL WORLD BODY TO HOLD A SIMILAR SYMPOSIUM FOR NETBALL TECHNOCRATS OTHWERWISE THE FOREIGNORS BAPU & CHINUNDA WILL NOT HELP MALAWI THAN STAGNATING US ON POSITION 6/5!!
