‘Fight for sex’ leads to husband’s murder: Malawi Police arrest woman

Malawi Police in Mangochi have arrested a 28 year old woman for allegedly murdering her husband  after a fight ensure for her  alleged denial of conjugal bliss to him.

Mangochi Police Station Public Relations Officer, Inspector Rodrick Maida who identified the suspect as Zione Lobeni said the incident happened at Chunda village in the area of Chief Chowe in the district.

“Facts surrounding the case are that Taimu Esibeni and Zione Lobeni were married and were staying at the wife’s home,” Maida said, adding that a misunderstanding emerged between the two a week prior to the incident.

He alleged that the woman had been denying the husband his conjugal rights a development which led to the husband forcibly demanding the right.

“From the preliminary investigations we have made the couple never understood each other on marital issues to the extent that the wife never wanted to have sex with the husband whenever he had the desire.

“Twice the wife attempted to expel the husband from the house but their marriage councilors stopped her from doing so,” Maida added.

Maida said it was on Friday last week early in the morning when the two picked a fresh quarrel which culminated into a fierce fight and in the process the suspected murderer grabbed the husband’s private parts.

“She pulled the genitals so hard leading to the husband collapsing. The husband’s manhood looked squeezed and elongated with a twisted neck,” Maida said.

Meanwhile, Maida said the police are waiting for results of a postmortem to establish the real circumstances leading to the victim’s death.

Zione Lobeni who hails from Chiunda village in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe in the district will appear before the court to answer to a charge of murder which is contrary to section 209 of the penal code and which attracts a maximum punishment of life imprisonment when one is found guilty.
