Fire guts Catholic convent: Daughters of Wisdom Sisters
Fire on Friday gutted the the residence of the Catholic nuns, Daughters of Wisdom Sisters at Lunzu in Blantyre, no injuries were reported.
The fire gutted one of the blocks of the Convent near Mlambe Hospital, Chileka Police Station Officer Jacqueline Kunje confirmed the development , but the cause of the fire has not been established.
Blantyre City Council and Chileka Airport fire brigade teams rushed to the scene when the fire started in the morning.
Kunje said all property in the affected rooms “has been burnt to ashes.”
Some nuns say the suspect the fire was caused by an electric fault with a phone charger.
