First Lady lays foundation stone for girl’s secondary school hostel project
First Lady Gertrude Mutharika on Wednesday laid a foundation stone for Khwalala Community Day Secondary School girl’s hostel project.
The project which is being sponsored by Plan Malawi International is part of Beautify Malawi, BEAM Trust girls’ education programme.
Through the project, BEAM Trust will facilitate as well as fund construction of hostels in many community secondary schools across the country.
It aims to counter challenges that girls face due to long distance they cover to access their respective secondary schools across the country and the impact of these challenges to the girls education efforts.
The First Lady disclosed that the Khwalala Girls Hostel will accommodate up to 80 girls “giving them secure accommodation and conducive environment for them to excel in class and become empowered women and make positive contribution to the social and economic development of Malawi.”
BEAM has totally lost its focus, we went from sweeping streets ( photo op), to stealing NAC money , to “beautiful women in red” to building girls hostels, this is just a conduit for siphoning our money, shame on you!

As usual here we have another piece of power reporting. Very incomplete. Where is Khwalala Community Day Secondary School? Which district? You think everyone knows where it is? What was the criteria of choosing the schools etc? What’s the budget and when is it expected to complete? You might not like it but this the kind of crucial information which lacks in most articles on this forum
How can that brick be a foundation stone? The foundation is already done as far as the picture shows.
BEAM should redefine its mandate and role. From beautifying to construction of hostels. Mxiiiiiiiiiii. Another conduit to milk peoples cash. Fu………k your BUUYAs
Full marks to the First Lady! Education is vital to women just as it is to men. But please let Government start recruiting those that graduate from colleges. Otherwise, it will be a journey unfinished…. or no work done.
