First Lady participates in women talk show: ‘Zokonda Amai’ radio program on MBC
First Lady Gertrude Mutharika on Sunday surprised many when she called state controlled Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) to participate in women’s talk show program on Sunday.
Mutharika took time to greet her friends and her greetings list include names of MBC women television and radio personalities in MBC’s old program, Zokonda Amayi.
She even chose a song she likes, Amayenda ndi mdidi by Faith Mussa.
She told the talk show that President Peter Mutharika was listening to the program and he does so every day.
Zokona Amai runs from Monday to Friday but this was a special New Year program.
Mutharika said she would next week visit Zokonda Amayi club members in some districts. Last year she hosted the Zokonda Amayi club members at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
She advised women to be prayful, urging them to pray in the morning, afternoon and evening to overcome problems rocking the country.

Well done Madam Mutharika for socialising with your fellow women. It was also good to hear that the President who is your husband listens to the Zokonda Amayi programme every day. I personally see no problem with that. At least the President spends time listening to a worthwhile programme involving women in his country.
