Fischer recalled in Malawi squad

The Football Association of Malawi ( FAM) has released a 25 man Flames squad scheduled  to go into training camp on Friday, April 27, 2010 at Chiwembe Technical Centre in the commercial city of Malawi, Blantyre in readiness of  China trip and other competitive games in June.

The Flames are expected to leave for a training camp in China on May, 6 before being engaged in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Chad at home and Nigeria as well as Kenya in the World Cup qualifiers.

FAM has recalled Big Bullets rejuvenated midfielder Fisher ‘Jahman’ Kondowe, who was frozen out by Coach Kinnah Phiri due to indiscipline.

Since he rejoined his former club from South Africa, Kondowe’s performance has improved immensely that he was influential for his club to qualify for Fellowship Association of Malawi Cup finals.

The squad is comprised of many locally based players as most foreign stars are still with their teams as their leagues are still in progress.

Kondowe ready to prove all his critics wrong

However, Flames coach has drafted in some vast experienced players who are still searching for clubs like gangling striker Russell Mwafulirwa, Esau ‘Black Mamba’ Kanyenda and defender Elvis Kafoteka.

Mwafulirwa is currently training with Super Sport in South Africa while Kanyenda, who jetted in the country on Wednesday, was training with Jomo Cosmos. Kafoteka he has been idle since he
returned from Thailand.

The only professional player in the squad is Limbikani ‘Pupa’ Mzava, who just returned from France where he went for trials at As Monaco.

Some of the players, who are in the squad are Mighty ‘Nyerere’ Wanderers trio of Foster ‘Zagaf’ Namwera, Joseph ‘Shakira’ Kamwendo and no nonsense left back Francis Mlimbika.

From the People’s team, players like young and upcoming striker Gabadin Mhango, Henry ‘Magetsi’ Kabichi, George Nyirenda and Vincent Gona while from 2011-2012 TNM Super League champions Rodrick Gonani, Harvey Nkacha, Amadu Ali and Frank Banda are all in the squad.
