Fombe K6.9mil wedding takes place amid public interest

Central Medical Stores Trust  procurement officer James Fombe on Saturday wedded his long time fiance, Mphatso at a glittering K6.9 million wedding ceremony at Livingstonia Beach Hotel in Salima.

The wedding comes amidist public interest generated from social media  reports that it was budgeted at K69 million. But Fombe rejected the rumours, saying the arithmetic is wrong.

Pictures from Salima seen in the social media show it was a well funded wedding ceremony, very glittering but certainly not K69 million as speculated.

Nyasa Times checked with Livingstonia Beach Hotel and seen booking documents of K6.9million.

And the final bill showed it was also trimmed.

“We were not feeding people gold to spend K69 million,” said Fombe.

The 38-year-old holder of MBA from University of Strathclyde in Scotland, said he was a victim of “smear campaign.”

As a civil servant, the speculations will certainly attract investigations into the expenditure of the wedding.

However, Fombe claims the mathamatics will still remain  under K10 million even a forensic investigations can be carried.

The cost of tying the knot is modern-day weddings is mostly lavish with expensive venues, mind-boggling vehicle fleets, extravagant photography budgets, large cakes, expensive golden rings, imported garments among other items that feature in the budgets.

This Fombe man without doubt is stealing money. There is no way he can raise K6.9m for a wedding. This kind of showing off needs to be probed. It bothers me how greedy Malawian have become at the expense of the country’s development. Malawi is the least developed country in Sub-Saharan Africa. Where is Ant–corruption Bureau? They are also busy stealing, I guess.

See now, where is the K69, 000.000.00? Tisamathe mawu msanga anthu abodza achuluka padzikoli. Paukwati its not all expenses you make that come from your pocket. aliyense anapangapo ukwati knows this. Therefore, let us no be so naive to think that k6.9million came from Fombe’s pocket

Aaaah, this is a case for Fiscal Police to probe. Kaya ndi mbale wathu, koma a civil servant of his age and grade can hardly amass enough money from his income out which he could spend at least K6.9 million. What lucrative business does he do? And remember that the Medical Trust has had its own share of stories regarding financial mismanagement. He must be probed and it is incumbent upon him to prove his innocence.

Let’s just wish the newly we’d couple all the best & stop the bickering. Sometimes we must learn to be happy for others when they succeed in life regardless of how they got their success. It’s not everybody who bends the rules or laws to acquire a good living, some have sacrificed a lot to study hard some inherited theirs from their families. So guys whether you have spent K69million there is no problem, nobody hasn’t reported that his K69million is missing so why the worry instead of being happy for them. Congratulations! !!!!

    1. observer says:

I AGREE WITH YOU MY BROTHER- I THINK THIS MAN HAS DONE WELL IN HIS LIFE- HOW HE SPENDS THE MONEY IS NO ONES BUSINESS-

    2. chaponda chimanga says:
