Football Association of Malawi (FAM) through its President Walter Nyamilandu have apologized to the sponsor of the Northern Region Football Association League sponsor Bishop Abraham Simama following irregularities and disorder that crippled the administration of the league for the past two years.
Nyamilandu made the apology on Friday during a prize presentation of the Northern Region Football Association League in Mzuzu.
“Let me apologize to the sponsor, Bishop [Abraham] Simama for the mess that crippled the league. I am 100 percent sure that this disorder will never happen again” said Nyamilandu.
Nyamilandu advised the association to safeguard the sponsorship since it is not easy to secure another once the current sponsorship is lost.
FAM boss said the recruited side from the North into the top flight TNM Super-Mzuni F.C deserved to be promoted because they fought on the ground.
Kaporo boycotted the replay accusing NFRA of favouring Mzuni.
They won the initial match 1-0 but NFRA said the game ended prematurely hence a need for a replay.
The FAM boss said it is worrisome that it is only in the north where football has not brought enjoyment and interaction lately.
He pointed out ignorance amongst some football officials that lead to the squabbles.
“Football is entertainment where people should enjoy, interact while upholding unity. I am surprised that this is not the case in the North. My stand is that there is knowledge gap among our officials on the general procedures binding football matters in the country” he said.
For emerging champions, Mzuni went home with K900, 000.00, a trophy and a certificate of recognition while arracks received K450, 000.00.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
