Football star Goodwin Chikhosi dead

Malawi football community has been left in shock by the death of former Civo United and Silver Strikers striker Goodwin Chikhosi.

According to his younger brother Shadreck, Goodwin died at Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH) in Lilongwe on Friday night.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, the former Big Bullets player said his elder brother has not been feeling well until he was referred to KCH where he was put on oxygen before his last breathe.

Goodwin was an elder to former Big Bullets danger man striker Andrew ‘Aluki’ Chikhosi and Shadreck, who also played for the people’s team.

Goodwin, who was born on 22, May, 1979 started his career in 2000-2004 where he played for Tigers youth before joining Silver Strikers in 2004.

After his excellent performance at the Bankers, Civo United roped in the versatile striker in 2006.

In 2008-2009, Goodwin went to Mozambique, where he played for Futbot Club de Angonia.

Chikhosi also displayed for Flames Under -20 and Under-23.

The remains of Goodwin will be buried on Sunday 4th December at Area 18 cemetery.

Meanwhile, Malawians paid tribute on his brother’s Facebook account.

Hlupekire Tomoka wrote that Chikhosi death had left him deeply saddened.

She wrote, ” May his soul rest in eternal peace and let the almighty God be with you and wipe away all sorrow and pain in your heart and let you realise why has done that.”

TiaMarie Katemba described the news as “tragic”.
