Funeral for Malawi FA president Nyamilandu’s fiancé in pictures
Thousands of people gathered Tuesday for the funeral of Football Association of Malawi president Walter Nyamilandu’s fiancée, who was killed on Saturday morning in a car wreck.
Nyamilandu’s fiancée Maria Inglis died on the spot with her friend Effie Kadzakumanja when the car the country’s football head, was driving overturned several times as he attempted to avoid hitting an on-coming truck.
Two of Nyamilandu’s children who were also in the vehicle, suffered injuries.
Inglis was laid to rest at her home in Chitakale in Mulanje with thousands of mourners, largely from the football fraternity, paying their last respect.
Nyamilandu who described Inglis as the “love of my life, my soul of my heart” braved the shoulder chest pains he sustained in the accident to give his fiancé a decent burial.
He and five other family members were travelling to Lilongwe in his Nissan Pathfinder vehicle when the accident occurred at a place called Chitale between Phalula and Senzani along M1 Road.
