Germany Goodlife Foundation donates hospital equipment to Joyce Banda Foundation

ZOMBA- President Mrs Joyce Banda has said the Joyce Banda foundation international will continue helping the needy for development progress in Malawi.

President Banda made the remarks Saturday at Msigalira Free Secondary school in Zomba when she presided over the handover ceremony of hospital equipment donated by founder of Goodlife foundation International Germany which has a branch in Malawi.

The President assured the gathering that attended the event that her foundation would distribute the equipment such as wheelchairs and crutches to the needy through the Ministry of Disabilities and FEDOMA to ensure transparency and accountability.

Among the items donated were hospital beds, mattresses, pushing trays, wheelchairs and walking aids, among others.

Banda said her organization cherishes the good relationship that she has with Goodlife Foundation.

“Our friends have given us wheelchairs, oxygen system machines, beds in 2 containers. Joyce Banda Foundation will distribute the items across the country through Mr. Mussa Chiwaula of FEDOMA, Ministry of Disabilities and the relevant authorities,” the President said.

The President also said Joyce Banda Foundation International will help in building a Health centre at Domasi, therefore she called on Goodlife Foundation and other well-wishers to assist in the project.

On national matters, President Banda said there are indicators the country will have food shortages among its 1.6 million households in November saying her Foundation will continue assisting the needy to complement governments efforts in food security.

“Joyce Banda Foundation will continue providing materials for the needy in the country such as food, farm inputs and even constructing good houses for those that are in need . This was the vision behind the establishment of the foundation,” she explained.

Banda then called on Malawians to assist each other and unite regardless of political and religious differences they have.

On his part Daniel Dank founder of Goodlife Foundation International Germany/Malawi pledged continuous support to Joyce Banda Foundation and to Malawi government.

Dank said the hospital equipments her foundation donated costed them 70,000 US Dollars.

Edith Akridge, Director of Joyce Banda Foundation said: “The donation will go a long way to assist some clinics in Zomba as well as other parts of the country.”
