Giant killers Michiru reaches quarter finals of Carlsberg Cup
Michiru Madrid of Malawi’s second tier league claimed another giant in the Carlsberg Cup after a comeback 3-2 victory over top league side Chitipa United on Friday at Chilomoni Stadium.
Chitipa scored through Abel Mwakilama but
Michiru Madrid, who are ironically struggling in the league at position 16 in the 21 team league equalised Chitipa United’s 12th minute goal.
Charles Chisale of Michiru scored equalised before his brace put his team in front.
Edwin Carlos put Michiru well in control after scoring the third goal to go for recess with a comfortable 3-1 lead.
The youngsters were just too good as their onslaught saw them scoring the fourth goal but it was ruled out for offside.
In the second half the TNM Super League rookies reduced the arrears with 15 minutes through Mwakilama’s second goal.
Michiru have reached the paid up ranks after beating Hard Knockers 2-0 thrashing Jali Rangers 6-0 and Masters Security 1-0.
