Gospel artist Chimwala set to release ‘Jesus is Number 1’

An up and coming South African Based Malawian gospel artist Chimwemwe Chimwala says he is set to release his solo debut album called ‘Jesus is Number One.’

Chimwala who first came to lim light when he was a lead vocalist of a group called Brothers in Christ said his yet to be released album mostly carries a message of hope and salvation.

According to Chimwala, he thought of coming up with the album as one way of revitalizing Malawi’s hope which seem to be diminishing due to several calamities currently facing the country.

“My composition, mostly wants to give hope to Malawi citizenry so that they grow their faith. I want to remind them that not all is lost despite having an economy which is not ticking and also looking at the floods that hit the country some time back” He said.

He also said “Jesus is number one” album has well produced and mature songs that will help change the picture of the gospel music industry in the country.

“For so long people have been complaining that Malawi artist especially those doing gospel music rush in producing their songs and they pay little attention to the quality, but I have a different story to tell. I took much time to record my songs so that they should not have a compromised quality,”he said.

Chimwala, who claim not to be in the industry for profit said, he regard music as a ministry.

“I have been called into this, am a messenger of Christ and my dream is to proclaim the word of God to all kinds of people,” he said.

Chimwala, now in Cape Town city added that in his new album, he has worked with a number of well-known artist like Thoko Suya of Adzandinyamula fame and Andiswa from South Africa.

The album which has songs like Jesus is number one,  Mukudziwa ndinu, Ndamupeza, Igwe and others was recorded at a number of studios including Joesha Records, Blessing Records,  Maximum production and Ekhayalami studio and is expected to hit the market in June this year.
