Gospel artist in cash controversy

It never rains for gospel artist Patience Namadingo who was recently being booted out from his parents’ house in Area 24 in the capital city of Malawi, Lilongwe as fresh allegations of misbehavior have surfaced.

In the latest episode, the young and upcoming artist was on Sunday, April  29 involved in a verbal war of words with the organizers of Peter Sambo album launch show  at Sheaffer Hall in Lilongwe on Sunday.

According to Sambo’s manager, Namadingo was earlier on requested to be among one of the artists to perform during the launch and that he demanded K50,000.

Sambo: Launched album

“After scrutinizing his demand, we thought it was too much because we wanted him to perform one song which he did it with Peter. After further investigations, we realized that he was also expected to perform in Mzuzu at the same day our show was organized,” said the Manager.

He added that upon realizing this they went back in radio stations informing the general public that Namadingo would not be available.

“We even told Namadingo that there was breach of contract,” he said

Come Sunday, the actual day of the launch, the Manager said that they were amused upon seeing Namadingo demanding his share for appearing on their poster.

“He insisted that we pay him the cash yet he was aware that he was not even on our program. To our dismay, we were also surprised that instead of being in Mzuzu the guy came at Sheffer,” he said.

According to the master of ceremony, Kelvin Shema, Namadingo, who was in a white suit, black shirt and spectales invaded Sheaffer demanding for K50,000

“We told him to vacate the place because he was not part of the programme. He really demanded the cash but we could not give him because he was removed from the programme,” said Shema.

An eye witness confided to Nyasa Timesthat Namadingo exchanged verbal words with the organizers and left the place disappointed.

It was also reported that in evening, Namadingo invaded Sambo’s residence to demand for his share.

However, when Nyasa Times tried to hear Namadingo’s side of story, he kept on hanging up his cell three times.

During the show, Prophet Sherped Bushiri bought the first CD at K200, 000.

Other artists, who graced the show, were Rev Chimwemwe Mhango, Favoured Sisters, George Mkandawire, The Joshua Generations and King David.
