Gospel singer Kapitapita launches album, MP Kalilani buys CD at K100, 000

Member of Parliament (MP) for Dowa Central, Dr. Jean Kalilani on Sunday surprised Dunstan Kapitapita; a renowned Lilongwe based gospel musician when she bought his CD and DVD called Ndidzayenda ndi Yesu at K100, 000 at Sheaffer ICA Marque in Lilongwe where the album was launched.

Kalilani who first promised she would buy the CD and DVD at K50, 000 said she decided to double the amount due to the recent devaluation.

Apart from that, the MP said she believed the money which she paid right away would go a long way in spreading the gospel through Kapitapita’s music.

“We need to develop our spiritual life and thank God for what he does for us in whatever way. Let me also say I enjoyed the show very much and everything was just fine,” said Kalilani.

Kapitapita in his acceptance speech said he did not expect such a thing from the MP as she was notified late.

“Am short of words and I cannot explain how I am feeling right now. I called her just last night informing her of the launch but what she has done, am just very grateful,” said Kapitapita.

He also applauded his fans that came to witness the launch and assured them of continued entertaining live shows in the near future.

Kapitapita came on the gospel scene some years ago alongside Gift Phiri with their debut album Diso Langa.

Ndidzayenda ndi Yesu is his first solo album and contains ten songs. It talks much of how people especially those that preach the word of God pull each other down and judge one another.

The launch was spiced up by supporting artists such as George Mkandawire, Peter Mulangeni, King David, Favoured Martha and the Great Angles Choir among others.
