Govt fires Bagus from Aircargo Malawi board after dumping DPP to join MCP
Malawi government has terminated the appointment of roving politician Salim Bagus from his board member post of Aircargo Malawi Limited.
The development comes after Bagus announced his defection form governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to join main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
President Peter Mutharika appointed Bagus, a former Cabinet minister, in the board when he just defected to his DPP from Peoples Party (PP) where he was National Organising Secretary.
In a letter dated September 26 2017, by Steward Ligomeka the Comptroller of Statutory Corporations says Bagus’s board member appointment has been terminated “!with immediate effect.”
It reads: “As previously informed during the time of your appointment, the appointment was not an employment contract hence it was bound to be terminated any time the Government sees it fit to do so.”
Ligomeka said government is not bound to give reasons for its decision.
Bagus confirmed the development, saying he received a telephone call to be informed about the development but he downplayed the matter.
“I joined Malawi Congress Party on Saturday so this decision has been made after the move.
It’s political but am not moved,” said Bagus.
Bagus said he is a conviction politician and would focus more in MCP regeneration.

That’s the evil DPP we all know. Statutory organizations are not functions in Malawi simply because the DPP led government use them to reward those who dump other parties and join DPP. With DPP in power Malawi will never develop.
This truly shows that these people who positions in Statutory Corporations and other quasi government owend companies are appointed based on Political appeasement not on merit to manage these SCs no wonder all of them are on a downward spiral. Malawi my country

One would think Bagus is Malawian first. But I guess foolishness abounds in Malawi so this is normal among foolish people.
