Great Angels Choir on national tour

Lilongwe-based Great Angels Choir, well known for their masterpiece ‘Gwileni Dzanja’, has organized a music tour around the country with an aim of praising God as they celebrate their three albums to date.

The tour, dubbed “Praise Afternoon”, targets the country’s three major cities started  on March 22 at Gymkana Club in Zomba, followed by another show at Robins Park in Blantyre on March 23 and finally Sheaffer ICA Marque in the capital Lilongwe on March 30.

According to the group’s music director, William Zonda, the choir has organized these shows to appreciate their fans who have been offering them support by patronizing their shows across the country.

“We want to say thanks to our fans who have been patronizing our live performances. We want them to tell us where we did wrong and which areas need improvements before releasing the fourth album this year,” he said.

Zonda also assured gospel music lovers of fireworks during the tour, saying they want to produce the best performance in celebrating their previous recordings, paving way for the new album.

As said by the group’s music director, all is set for the release of another album, which will raise their profile of Great Angels Choir in the gospel music industry.

Accompanying the Great Angels Choir in all the venues will be Thocco Katimba, Favoured Martha, Limbani Simenti, Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Mlaka Maliro, P.O.V, Marvelous Deeds, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Ndirande Anglican Voices and Peter Uyu Mlangeni, whose new DVD will be on sale.

The performances, slated to be starting at 12 noon, will attract an entry fee of K1000 per head.

So far the Great Angels Choir has released ‘Mundifungatire’, which has popular songs such as ‘Baba Ndathokoza’ and ‘Sodom’. Their second album is ‘Gwireni Dzanja’ with hit numbers like ‘Paine Ndekha Sindingathe’ and the title track.

The choir also released ‘Ndiyende Bwanji’ whose songs, ‘Ndisiyeni Ndiyende’, ‘Sindipita’ and ‘Hamba’ are still enjoying massive airplay on different local radio stations.
