Headmaster dies after robbery attack

Namiwawa Private Schools Headmaster, George Malola on Monday night fainted before  he was pronounced dead on arrival at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital when was attacked by unknown thugs, police confirmed the incident.

Malola 40 years-old hailed from Pitala village, T/A Mpama in Chiradzulu was mugged by armed thugs who wanted to steal school’s funds which were reportedly to be in his possession.

Southern Region Police Public Relations Officer, Nicholas Gondwa disclosed in an interview that the unidentified thugs invaded Malola’s residence which is close to the school situated in Namiwawa, Blantyre, demanding money.robbery

“The thugs, according to Malola’s wife, tied his hands and seal his mouth with seal-tape before taking him to office, which is some metres away from the house, where they claimed the money was kept. It was while there (at the office) when he collapsed,” Gondwa explained.

Gondwa said the robbers failed to steal the claimed money but instead went away with three desktop computers, one I pad and mobile phone.

“After noting that he had collapsed, the thugs rushed back to the house and notified the wife before running away with the stolen items. The victim was taken to Mwaiwathu Private Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival”.

Meanwhile, Gondwa said they have intensified investigations in hunting for the thugs.
