Phalombe housing officer Fackson Chidzati said a lot of families have been left homeless in chief Kaledzera’s area and Group village headman Nampinga.

Chidzati said the council is doing an assessment on the number of households affected by the rains in order to ascertain the number of beneficiaries for relief items.

In Blantyre, the heavy rains brought business to a halt in the commercial city.

Some merchandize including fish were washed away from Limbe market as the market was flooded.
