Hellen Mpinganjira sidelined in Malawi Olympic Committee polls
Malawi Olympic Committee General Secretary Hellen Mpinganjira will have a tough time to maintain her position in next year’s elections.
Mpinganjira could pay the price for failing to retain the position of general secretary at her parent Netball Association of Malawi elections held this year as it will be difficult to secure nomination.
Inside sources confided to the Nyasa Times that Mpinganjira had been left out in the shadow committee of the incumbent administration with Treasurer Jappie Mhango expressing interest to replace her.
However, the incumbent president Oscar Kanjala is expecting to retain with vice president Flora Mwandira also being assured of another term of office.
The position of treasurer has been linked with Malawi Boxing Association vice president Henry Sakala with Athletics Association of Malawi president Godfrey Phiri or General Secretary Frank Chitembeya vying for the vice-secretary position.
The vice-general secretary position fell vacant after Hackson Chapasa was removed for gross indiscipline.
Football Association of Malawi’s Technical Director John Kaputa is also interested to contest for the position of vice general secretary.
