High court grants bail to murder suspects

The High court in Blantyre has given bail to two murder suspects of teenager Harrison Mukhova junior last year in Blantyre.

The two, Lovemore Liwambano and Mike Chiwaula through their lawyer applied for bail to the court after they were arrested and denied the bail by the Midima magistrate court last week.

The suspects were arrested together with the other three as the prime suspects to the brutally murder of the teenager during the night of 15th November, 2014 in Newlands, Blantyre.

In his bail ruling, Justice Chirwa of Blantyre High Court ordered the two to pay K200, 000 bail fee, two sureties who are relations with K100, 000 and another three with K50, 000 each.

They have been also told not to leave Blantyre without notifying the police and they must report to police twice a week.

The other three who are still at Chichiri prison for the same offence are Martin Kalima and Chitani Kwayira, while Benson Christopher is at Limbe police station.

Mr. Reporter you need to be serious. I would believe the guys were charged with Man Slaughter which is not murder since the former happens when there was no intention to kill while the latter is cold-blood removal of life. My understanding is that the accused were guilty of beating up a suspect. Wapulika Munganya?

They are just suspects. Innocent until proven guilty. So you want them to stay in jail and be found innocent after spending 3yrs in jail? No no no

What are the reasons for giving bail to a murder suspect? Don’t you see that people will have a feeling that these days murder is a little offence?
