Hotel gags staff after woman found dead
Management at Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel has warned its staff to desist from entertaining inquiries from nosy journalists regarding the mysterious death of one of the hotel’s housekeeper who was found hanging on Saturday afternoon.
General Manager Redson Chikuta could not be reached for comment but sources confirmed the development to NyasaTimes.
Speculations are rife regarding the death of Gloria Nhlane, 28, from Solomon Village, Traditional Authority Mabilabo, who committed suicide when she reported for duty on Saturday and left no note.
“It is believed that she killed herself around 9am but she was discovered around 2pm. So far we suspect no foul play,” Mzuzu Police Spokesperson Edward Longwe.
According to Longwe a hospital post mortem report said death was due to strangulation.
But our sources said Gloria hanged herself in the Hotel’s pantry and wondered why nobody discovered her body early enough considering that there so many people in her department at any given moment.
She hailed from Traditional Authority Mabulabo in Mzimba.
