Illovo Malawi extends ‘2020 Ikome’ promotion

Illovo Sugar (Malawi) plc  has extended its ‘2020 Ikome Promotion’ as the Malawi Stock Exchange-listed entity strives to build value for its customers across the country.

Lekani Katandula, Illovo Malawi managing director: Promotion to continue

The promotion was supposed to run from  December 2 2019 to February 13  2020, but has been extended after realizing that some customers and consumers segments were left behind.

Announcing the development, newly appointed Illovo Sugar Managing Director,  Lekani Katandula said further said they decided to extend the promotion past the original promotional dates after noting the way the promotion had been received by their customers and consumers.

He said they rolled out the promotion in December to support their customers in their efforts to cushion themselves from the harsh financial challenges of “general January”.

“What you may have all noted however, is that the price of our one kilogram packet of Illovo Tseketseke sugar has been maintained at the promotion price of K800.

“We have said over the past few years that we remain market focused. This is why we have and continue to look into our product portfolio that caters to different customer and consumer needs,” Katandula said.

He further said while the promotional price on 1kg Brown Sugar pre-pack has received positive reviews from the public, “we did realize that we had left behind other customers and consumers segments.”

“We are therefore excited to announce that the price promotion is being extended to our entire range in terms of product type; that is brown, white and dark damerara sugar and all pack sizes,” he added.

Under this promotion, 50kgs Brown Illovo Tseketseke is selling at K36,500 per bag; K20kgs bulk brown sugar is recommended at promotion selling price of K14,800 per bag; 2kgs white and brown sugar is selling at K1500 only per packet with 500gs selling at K430 per packet

The 220 grams Illovo Tseketseke is at a promotional retail selling price of K200 per packet.

“This will ensure that regardless of a customer and consumer’s preferred pack size and sugar type they all get to benefit. Now we can say Ikomebe, Tsopano Ikome Kwa Aliyense,” said Katandula.
