Impressive Pindani earns Flames first call up

Silver Strikers sensational midfielder Peter Pindani has earned himself an inclusion into the Malawi National Senior Soccer team for the first time ever following his impressive form in the new soccer season.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) Chief Exececutive Officer Suzgo Nyirenda has confirmed recommending the player to the national team coach Kinnah Phiri.

“Many people have been questioning us on why Pindani is not part of the squad. Pindani is a natural winger and we thought it wise that it’s time he be included in the squad. We have informed the national coach to consider him this week,” said Nyirenda.

Pindani emphasized that he has been waiting for his opportunity to represent his country.

Pindani called into camp

“I am very happy and thankful to God for being recognized. I will try my best to work hard during training not to let down my fans and all those people who fought for my return to the squad,”Pindani told Nyasa Times.

However, it is yet to be seen what the mood will be like between Kinnah Phiri and Pindani who have been seemingly at loggerheads for the past seasons.

Phiri has been snubbing the player since he joined Silver Strikers from Big Bullets.

At one point, the player quizzed the coach why he was not being considered for the call up.

“This is water under the bridge. Now my focus is on the game and my relationship with the coach is cordial,” said Pindani.

Nyirenda described the midfield maestro as a fantastic player who has indeed ripened to carry out national duties and be showcased on the international scene.

Flames will tussle with Nigeria]s Super Eagle on Saturday in the World Cup Qualifiers at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

Pindani a former Chanco F.C player joined the Bankers Silver Strikers from Bullets F.C at a tune of K700, 000.00 and helped the bankers to clinch the TNM Super League title last season.

The player has been instrumental in his team’s two straight wins of the opening games of the 2012-2013 season.

He was in best form against his former club Bullets F.C when his team demolished the visitors last weekend by 4-0 margin.

In yesterday’s game, Pindani engineered both goals as his team registered a hard felt sweet victory over Azam Tigers 2-0 at Silver Stadium.

Silver is at the moment at the helm of the K65 Million TNM Super League with six points.
