Its Blantyre derby in Presidential Netball Cup Finals
It’s a Blantyre derby in the Presidential Netball Cup finals between Kukoma Diamonds and Tigresses on Saturday at Blantyre Youth Centre in Blantyre.
Diamonds clipped Thunders 42-23 in the semi-finals, while Tigresses pruned Civonets in the first semis by 47-34.
Tigresses coach Peace Kaluwa Chawinga said they are geared to clinch the cup insisting their dismal performance in the GOtv tournament still lingers in their mind.
“We disappointed our fans in the GOtv tournament, but this time around we want to pay them with the Presidential trophy,” said Chawinga.
She however, was quick to stress that it will be a tough encounter against Diamonds.
Diamonds assistant coach Griffin Saenda jnr also assured their fans to come in their large numbers at BYC tomorrow (Saturday) to drum up support to their team.
“We will continue where we left in the GOtv by adding another trophy on our shelve,” said Saenda.
Before the finals, there will be a third place which will involve Civonets and Thunder Queens.
In another shocking result on Friday, much improved Thunders ousted favourites Blue Eagles Sisters 40-37 in an entertaining encounter that was watched by thousands of people.
During this match all Blantyre teams Kukoma Diamonds, Tigresses and Prison Sisters from Zomba were behind Thunders.
After the final whistle between Thunders and Blue Eagles all the Blantyre teams hugged, danced and celebrated with Thunders.
