Izeki dismisses death rumours : ‘Wakufa sadziwika’
Malawi’s celebrated comedian John Nyanga alias Izkei has dismissed rumours that he had died.
Rumours swirled on Wednesday that Izeki had passed on, but all the speculation was allayed as the comedian spoke with journalists from Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre where he is hospitalised.
Izeki , a colossus of a comedian together with Eric Mabedi, popularly known as Jakobo in two-man skit – Izeki and Jakobo – said he is recovering from a bout of tuberculosis.
“I am recovering and hope Malawians will treat me with dignity other than wishing me dead,” said Izeki from his hospital bed in Ward 3 A.
“My condition was bad two weeks ago but now am feeling much, much better. God is great,” said the comedian-turned- prophet a founder of the Ndirande-based Synagogue for Hope where he is popularly known as Prophet Z.
“Doctors, nurses, relatives, well-wishers as well as those I used to entertain have been supportive and I thank God for them,” he said Nyanga.
Izeki also works with Joy FM as a presenter of Kalibu programme and his signing off words are: wakufa sadziwika (Nobody knows who bites the dust first”).
