Johannes Beese Foundation (JBF) Friday handed over two classroom blocks worth K 40 million to Thyolo District Education Office at a ceremony which took place at Kankhomba Primary school.
District Education Manager (DEM) for Thyolo, Geoffrey Kubwense thanked JBF for constructing the blocks which he said would help in improving quality of education in the district.
He said the two classroom blocks would reduce congestion in classrooms which was the major problem at the school.
“The blocks have come at the right time. Some pupils were learning under trees. This will make students concentrate in class as outside learning is affected by many distractions,” Kubwense pointed out.
The DEM said JBF donated 80 lamps to standard eight pupils at the school which would assist the pupils to prepare well for the coming end of term examinations.
JBS Country Representative for Malawi, Moses Kasitomu said it was their wish to ensure that pupils learn in very conducive environment in rural areas.
He said JBF was expecting parents, teachers and students to take care of the infrastructure so that it continues helping the pupils for a long time.
JBF constructed the blocks through the Archdiocese of Blantyre under the Catholic Church.
The organization is implementing a number of projects in the country aimed at improving education quality.
