JB speaks against sexual affairs in Malawi’s ruling PP
Malawi President Mrs Joycce Banda on Tuesday shot a powerful warning to her members of the ruling People’s Party (PP) against sexual affairs in the party.
President Banda made the warning during the party she organized to committee members from the northern region at the State lodge in Mzuzu.
“When you engage in sexual love affairs in the party you are despising me, I know it’s your right to have an affair but please do it outside the party,” pleaded President Banda.
She noted that when members involve in love affairs in the party especially those with authorities it is difficult to discipline each other.
“I am not talking of established marriage like that of Catherine and Gottani no, those are serious marriages, but am talking of zibwezi (love affairs)” said President Banda to the ululating patrons.
It was not clear who the message was targeting but love affairs are not a new thing in political parties.
President Banda articulated also five key areas that her administration has embarked on saying the country will soon realize the fruits of Economic Recovery.
The President told her supporters that there is a lot of international and donor confidence on her administration and this will propel her government to do more.
“Another thing that we need to do is livestock farming, people of the north have for a long time been champions of livestock farming, my government will make sure that we revert to those old days,” said the Malawi leader..
President Banda also appealed to all members to let as many people join the party.
‘Let everyone who want to join the party join the party, there is only one founder in the party and if the founder has opened the doors let no one close them,” said President Banda.
President Banda and Vice President Khumbo Kachali later gave over two hundred bicycles to committee members that attended the meeting. Each attendee also received a 50kg Bag of Maize.
This is the third party that President Banda has thrown to her followers during the festive season. She held the other two in Blantyre and Zomba.
