John Banda appointed Ferroviaro captain: Malawi star vows to up his game

Former Blue Eagles and Flames international attacker has expressed delightment with his appointment as Captain for Mozambican top league side Ferrovario de Nampula.

John Banda: Captain

Banda was appointed to the position during the pre-season by coach Salvado.

He told Nyasa Times that to be handed the position simply means the coach has trust in him.

“I feel great and honoured to be appointed captain in a foreign land. This is no mean achievement and it simply shows that the coach has trust in me,” said Banda.

“To Malawi as a nation, this also means that we are good people with good behaviour because to be appointed a leader, there are several areas that are looked into,”  he added.

The versatile attacker said communication with his team mates and officials won’t be a problem as he is able to communicate perfectly in Portuguese language.

“I am able to communicate in portuguese and the good thing is that some of the team mates also understands English very well,” he said.

Banda plays at Ferroviaro alongside other Malawian players in the name of Zicco Mkanda and Schumacher Kuwali.
