Jomo elected Bullets top fan in ‘free, fair polls’

New broom at Big Bullets following peaceful supporters polls on Saturday at BAT Ground Blantyre .

The elections, which were supervised by officials from  Super League Association of Malawi, Football Association of Malawi were described as free and fair.

The person who will lead the Peoples Team on the part of supporters is Isaac Jomo, who got 345 votes while Stone Mwamadi is his vice chairman.

The supporters general secretary went to Mabvuto Chibambo with Manzy Chikoti as his vice general secretary.

Bruce Tambwali was voted as Treasure general with Dave Matemba as his vice.

In his remarks, the newly elected chairman Jomo said it is time for things to change at Bullets.

He said the role of a  fan  is to support his team at the stands not manning the gates as it has been the case lately.

“From today onwards, let us put the welfare of our players first. Why should a supporter man the gates instead of being at the stands supporting the team,” quizzed Jomo, amid ululation from hundreds of Bullets supporters, who converged BAT.

Jomo also questioned why some officials and families from FAM and Sulom are allowed to watch matches for free instead of paying at the gates.

“Your also part of the people who do not wish well our teams because instead of paying at the gates so that our clubs benefit something you enter for free. From today onwards as Big Bullets we want officials from Fam and Sulom to pay at the gates,”said the flamboyant chief supporter.

Jomo also said they have outlined a number of activities to raise funds for the  team to run smoothly.

Speaking earlier, Big Bullets Trustee Busile commended former Bullets chief supporter Geoffry Mbalati for making sure that there was always discipline at Bullets.

“During Mbalati’s rule we haven’t seen any violence among our supporters during matches. Let us emulate his example and let me also take this opportunity to thank former chairman in the executive Mr Malinda Chinyama. Chinyama did a lot for this club and let us all thank him for the job well done,”he said.

David Ntanthiko, who was the presiding officer during the elections described them as free and fair.

Ntanthiko also commended the Peoples Team fans for a peace elections.

In the capital city, Rex Mitochi was elected as the supporters chairman with Ethel Moffat as his vice.

Kennedy Kamanga was chosen as the general secretary while Yeremia Thomson was elected as his vice.

On the Treasure general post, Abdala Mweneidi was handed the mantle with Luka Chuma as his vice.
