Junior Flames complete stunning late turnaround to finish Group C on a high

Malawi’s Junior Flames wrapped up their COSAFA Under-20 Championship Group C campaign with a dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Comoros, snatching victory deep into stoppage time.

Comoros took the lead through Zoyad Moussa in the 23rd minute, and Malawi went into the break trailing 1-0 after failing to find a way through before halftime.

The Junior Flames kept pushing after the restart, and their persistence paid off in sensational fashion late on. Mwisho Mhango levelled the score in the 92nd minute, before Austin Yasin struck the winner just two minutes later in the 94th minute to complete the turnaround.

Yasin’s decisive intervention saw him named Player of the Match.

The win rounds off a solid group stage for Malawi, who finish Group C with six points from three matches — victories over Botswana and Comoros, and a single defeat to Zambia in their opener.

A gritty response and a nerveless finish give the Junior Flames real momentum heading into the knockout stages.
