Junior Flames upbeat of winning start in Cosafa U-20 Championship

Malawi Under 20 National Team Assistant Coach Enos Chatama says the morale in their camp is very high and that the players are geared for their opening encounter.

The Junior Flames launch their 2016 Under 20 Cosafa Youth Championship campaign with a date against Zimbabwea on Friday and the game starts at 3:00pm local time.

“The boys are geared and people back home should pray for the team” Chatama told Nyasa Times from South Africa on Thursday evening.

Asked if the Junior Flames can beat their Group B opponents after watching them face each other in their opening match Chatama said:
“Yes ….they are beatable as far as the boys (Malawi) play to the coach’s instructions”.

Zimbabwe and Zambia are deemed as favourites at the tournament.

Zambia launched their campaign on a high note on Wednesday following an 8-0 thumping over Zimbabwe.

The Junior Flames will rely on captain Mike Mkwate and Peter Banda among other players wo have graduted from the Under 17.

The team makes a return after a break for a couple of years.
