Kabwila brags at UMT rally: ‘I’m still the machine’

Firebrand politician and Salima North West Constituency parliamentarian, Jessie Kabwila, was Saturday officially unveiled as UTM party parliamentary candidate for the constituency  in the forthcoming elections at a rally at Siyasiya trading centre in the district that was graced by the party’s leader Saulos Chilima.

Kabwila recently ditched opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) where she was once the party’s publicity secretary to join UTM where she won the last week’s primaries unopposed.

Speaking with her unmistakable charisma, Kabwila said she felt home being at UTM and pledged to help the party take over the next government.

“People know me as ‘the machine’ here because of the hard work for my people. I am still ‘the machine’ and I will never get intimidated. I will remain the machine,” said Kabwila.

According to Kabwila, it is because of her closeness to her constituents that makes her popular.

“People here are always against anyone who is against Jessie,” she bragged amid shouts of agreement.

She then hailed Chilima for his messages of hope to the Malawian people.

“You’ve shown that you are development conscious, and are willing to support anyone who is willing to share your dreams of transforming this nation,” she said.

Speaking earlier, Speaker of Parliament, Richard Msowoya, described Kabwila as one of the legislators in the House that contribute to intelligent debate.

“Actually, parliament would be lukewarm without her,” said Msowoya.

Msowoya, who was also MCP, asked the people of Salima to support Chilima like other regions.

“For example, people from the whole northern region have already rallied behind UTM,” he said.

  1. Soon Kabwila will take over UTM by coup, judging by her bragging; a la Mia.
The only difference being Mia paid a lot of money for MCP, but Kabwila won’t pay even a tambala because there is not really even intrinsic value in UTM. There is only goodwill, and that will all evaporate the day after the elections. A highly discounted price indeed.

  2. Akweni Kaliati ndi Chilima iwe pompa:
Mukumva kukoma kapena kuwawa pomva Kabwila-Kapasula akudzitama chonchi inu muli mbuu, ngati osasamba pompo pompo?
    Wayamba kunyozani already!

  3. Jessie can’t win an election under UTM no matter what !! My sister go back to chalk at the university. You lost steam that is why MCP vomited you out. You have joined a losing wagon full of disgruntled individuals.- msowoya patricia makondi masangwi ngumuya etc. a msowoya poona kuti Sangawine ku Karonga atsogoza mwana wao kuopa kuchita manyazi. Jessie will lose the seat in Salima. Mark my words

  4. Mmalawi weniweni.
Good advice. What is seen is regionalist, ethnic and nepotistic politics where people blindly support ‘their own’ despite being dormant and inept. There is no evaluation, no serious scrutiny of those they support.
Truth be told that most people hate parties they perceive are strongly posing a big challenge to their party’s chances of winning.

  5. Msowoya ndichimunthu chonama kwambiri chigawo chake chiti chili cha utm?Azinena iyeyu ndi banja lake osati north. A failed leader,,,kkkkk

  6. People from the whole Northerm Region rallying behind UTM? Msowoya is lying. In addition Jessie will not win there.

  7. Noone ditches MCP and become successful in the pending general election….

Kabwira and UTM going no where…..We will welcome you in our government this May

  8. Thank God elections are just few months to go. choosing of political leaders is in the heart of people not leaders. Therefore, Jessie and your disgruntled friends in UTM should stop celebrating of winning the masses. The needs of Malawians is to have a performing team, a party with servant leadership, none other than MCP and Lazarus Chakwera

    1. OK, now let me get this straight. Do you just hate UTM or you are serious? I mean, when you say a performing team I believe you’ve looked at the teams of all parties including MCP and concluded that MCP has a performing team. So I want to know if people like Kunkuyu, Wakuda Kamanga, Sidik Mia, Zikhale ngo’oma and some former PP gurus you have there who failed our nation those two years when they were in PP with Joyce Banda are also part of “a performing team” as put it. Seriously I don’t support any political party but some people’s (which I believe includes you) obsessive love towards political parties is shielding their cognitive judgement……which is scaring and depressing in as far as having true servant-serving leaders is concerned. My advice, be objective in thinking. These politicians are mere mortals just like us. You don’t need to hate one political party just because you don’t support it. Mind you, anthu akuchipani kwanuko tomorrow they can just decide to switch a political party at their own will and you will have no say.

      1. VP is part of the current gvt. When people wany to change gvt they remove both President and VP. So DPP and UTM and Jesaie are not winning in May.

  9. Mr Msowoya, are you serious people from the whole northern region…………………..? “Whole?”………………………………………….. let’s wait and seeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

    1. Koma anthu ndiye munamasukadi koma ine ndikuti kwawo kwa kabwira ndi kwanthu moti mudzadabwa kabwira akuwina kaya utm sidzawina koma kabwira yekhayo adzawina basi chifukwa kuno timamukonda pa zomwe amatichira
