Malawi Congress Party (MCP) member of Parliament for Salima Northwest Constituency, Dr Jessie Kabwila, has been elected as new chairperson for Women Caucus in Parliament.
Kabwila,who is also MCP spokesperson, will be deputised by former chair Cecilia Chazama.
She told Nyasa Times that it’s “an honour to serve as the Chair of the Legislative Women’s Caucus.”
“I look forward to working with my colleagues to build a better, brighter future for all women and their families.”
Meanwhile, Malawi’s first meeting of the 45th parliamentary session adjourned Friday.
Both Leader of the House Francis Kasaira and Leader of Opposition Lazarus Chakwera described the sitting as fruitful.
Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya was also pleased with the deliberations, saying MPs are using the role to “serve” Malawians.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
