Kaliati blasts critics of DPP govt: Rubbishes Malawi regime change  call

Information Minister Patricia Kaliati on Wednesday called for mindset transformation amongst Malawians while demanding them to stop castigating the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) government for the hunger and financial crisis the nation is facing.

Kaliati made her call during the National Service Worship Commemorating 52 years of Independent which was held in Lilongwe.

Speaking during the event, Kaliati who is also government spokesperson, says Malawians are castigating the Peter Mutharika led government on the economic turmoil  and hunger crisis  but denied that her party is the root cause of the problem.

“First of all allow me to thank President Peter Muthalika for being the first leader in the history of Malawi to hold a national prayer on the independence day,” said Kaliati.

She said this has shown that Muthalika is a God fearing President that respects Malawians.

But since the time of Independence hero,  founding president Kamuzu Banda, then multiparty democracy president Bakili Muluzi to Bingu wa Mutharika and Joyce Banda administration, the country has been having interdenomination prayers ahead of July 6 day.

Kaliati said critics should stop faulting the government, saying the problems the country is going through were inherited.

“If our fore fathers would have done better in providing electricity, road networks or agriculture just to mention a few, the country would have not passed in these problems. But because they didn’t hence the problems so it’s not DPP or Peter Muthalika,” she argued.

Kaliati also  blasted Malawians who are agitating for regime change after noting that Mutharika is inept and only capable of bringing more misery to Malawians.

University students have already made their statement that they want Mutharika to step down and are planning to stage massive vigils until their demand is met.

The students want Mutharika to reduce the insensitive fees hike which Mutharika has approved.

But Kaliati said this is not the time to demand a regime change, claiming that Malawi is heading in the right direction under the dynamic and visionary leadership of President Mutharika.

Mutharika is being accused of being clueless and inept to solve the economic turmoil  as he is  presiding over the lack of medicines in public hospitals , unpaid salaries for teachers, unemployment and high inflation.

Malawians,do not urge with a fool because people won’t know who is a fool.Kaliati is just a lackadaisical in a country which has lost decorum and sense of pride and that’s why she is kept in Muthalika’s vision less and kleptocratic government to entertain the audiences as Banda used to treat Kadzamila in the audiences while on the other hand ,he turned her into a SEX SLAVE.Where is she now? Really, does Kaliati look like a government Minister or an organizer for beauty contests? She is a shaming the people of Malawi and worse still, she is not articulate enough to be… Read more »

Madam Kaliati is precisely one of the reasons hy regime change is needed. With all the problems Malawi is facing the best APM can do is call a prayer meeting! And Madam Kaliati extolls APM for doing so and refers to his ‘dynamic and visionary leadership, but does not give any examples of it. Independence Day is surely the perfect opportunity for the President to say what he has done, is doing and is planning to do to remedy the problems his people are experiencing. Oh no, the best he can do is hold a prayer meeting!! Madam Kaliati is… Read more »

Mrs Patricia Kaliati thanks for making that observation, you really inherited problems. Why did your late Bingo wa Muthalika steal that much, Sixty one BILLION!! and his minister MK577million!!. Do you think you will find rest in Malawi. All the loans that your Bingo got, which meant us ordinary citizens were misused. e.g. treadle pumps. However, from MCP era you inherited a free and independent state to run its government, state houses, road networks, Kamuzu international airstrip, railway line up to Mchinji, small vessels on lake Malawi and above all government offices at capital hill. After all are actually waiting… Read more »
