Nyasa Bullets to undergo a clearout: 12 players to be offloaded, says Lipipa
Football power house, Nyasa Big Bullets has said it will wield the axe with some vigour in readiness for next season, clearing out almost an entire matchday squad of players, the club chairman Noel Lipipa has disclosed.
Lipipa told reporters that the club will ditch about 12 players and strengthen with new faces to bolster its chances to win the TNM Super League championship currently being held by their rivals Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
“My observation is that half of the team is aged and we need to get rid of them,” said Lipipa.
Nyasa Times understands veteran Fischer Kondowe is one of the players that will be allowed to leaves in massive clear-out.
But Lipipa said his statement on aged players was not a reflection on Kondowe personally.
He, however, said the club needs to strengthen the squad with at least “seven quality players.”
Lipipa said they will promote three players from their reserve side.
Bullets chair said the current squad cannot win the league.
“We need to strenghten the squad or else we will continue coming second who is unacceptable for a big team like Bullets as nobody recognises the runner-up,” Lipipa said.
Lipipa stressed it will not be business as usual in the next league campaign.
He said the technical committee led by head coach Rodgers Yasin and his assistant Elia Kananji have been told to work out on the clear out.
