Kamlanje appointed coach for Eagles: Russell Mwafulirwa is assistant coach

In a bid to maximize their chances of playing in the TNM Super League next season, the Northern Region Football League Premier Division outfit, Fish Eagles has secured the services of former Malawi National Team striker, Russell Mwafulirwa and former Big Bullets player Chisomo Kamlanje.

Mwafurilwa: Assistant coach for Fish Eagles

Fish Eagles spokesman Mike Lyson Zgambo said they have hired Kamlanje as the head coach and Mwafulirwa as his deputy.

Zgambo said the team will benefit a lot from the vast experiences of the two former players whom he said have the knowledge of the country’s football philosophy.

“These are not new people in the country’s football development and I am pleased that they have expressed commitment to the team,” said Zgambo.

In separate interviews, Kamlanje said he felt humbled to be approached by the team and accepted the offer saying he would impart his expertise to the youthful players as one way of contributing towards football development in the country.

“I am eager to see the team improve and play entertaining football worth watching,” said Kamlanje.

He said it is high time a team from Mzuzu was promoted into the TNM Super League.

“In fact, we will do everything possible to fight for the honours and I am even looking forward to work with my counterpart Russell to help the team.

“l believe we will take this team very far considering that both of us are role models to this generation of players having played at the highest level, so it’s an honour to work together,” Kamlanje said.

In his remarks, Mwafulirwa confirmed the development but said he is currently tied up with some personal things and was eager to help the team to realise its goals.

“Really I was approached by the management of the team and as of now, I am pursuing other personal things and I hope to bounce back when everything is sorted out, “Mwafulirwa said.
