Kanyenda’s Polokwane to stay in SA top league
Malawi’s international veteran striker Esau Kanyenda’s team Polokwane City will enjoy top league football in South Africa’s PSL after winning playoffs to stay in the league.
Polokwane secured Absa Premiership football next season after a 2-1 win over Kanyenda’s compatriot Harry Nyirenda’s team Black Leopards.
Polokwane have emerged top of the playoffs with 10 points while Black Leopards, who were required to win to earn promotion finished second with six points.
A draw for Esau’s team would have enough to secure premiership football as they would have finished on eighth position while Black Leopards would have fallen short of victory.
Kanyenda finished top goal scorer for Polokwane City having six goals in the league.
